Spring 2008

Hi everyone! We are still going strong! I can't believe that the end of the school year is a little more than a month away! As always, we are looking forward to the summer break and more time to spend together. Unbelievably, my Cara will be 13 years old this Friday! She had some friends sleep over last Saturday for her birthday and I took them out to Panera for breakfast. No more organized games or activities for mom to plan :( . The girls did makeovers on each other, scary ones first, then beautiful ones. Cara will be on a field trip this Friday on her birthday from 6am-8pm, the 7th grade is going to Philadelphia for the day. I knew that she would be tired so that is why she had the sleepover last weekend. Her soccer team won their game last Saturday 1-0! This year the teams in her age group consist of 12, 13 & 14 year olds on the same team and there is a big difference in the size of the girls. Cara is also in band for the second year at middle school, she plays the clarinet. Yesterday she had to perform a solo in front of a judge and get graded from 1-5, with 1 being the best. She was so excited when she came out of the school because she got a 1! She will get a trophy awarded to her at the spring concert this month. The boys are doing well too. Evan is on a field trip today to Skyline Caverns, which is about an hour away from here. Brandon decided not to play soccer this season, for the first time in 3 years but he did say that he would play in the fall again. I suggested baseball to him, but he said no to that too. I have really been enjoying my time in Brandon's classroom helping with math centers and I always go with his class to art and help out there too! It's great getting to know all 28 kids in his class. I volunteered at the middle school where Cara goes for the first time 2 weeks ago selling tickets for the dance. We sold 200 just on Friday, there were about another 200 sold between Wed & Thurs lunches. At the end of every 9 weeks they have an after school dance/activity day. Last year they had dances in the evening, but this year they have them right after school on a Friday. There will be a movie playing in one room, basketball, pingpong and other activities in the gym, dance in the cafeteria and board games in another room. It's really a neat way to get more kids interested in attending. School gets out on Friday the 13th of June and we are heading up to Lancaster probably one last time to see Thomas the Tank Engine that same weekend to celebrate Brandon's 6th birthday and Father's day too!
